A Journey of Independence at Adult Day Services
There was a time when Linda Jackson was unsure about her son, Michael’s, future. As a single mother of a child with intellectual disabilities, she encountered numerous challenges and tough decisions. Yet today, Michael is thriving. Their story is as a testament to the power of dedicated and individualized support, and the strength of a mom determined to give her son the best life possible.
“When Michael was younger, he displayed some forms of behavioural aggression,” explains Linda. “I knew I wouldn’t be able to do everything he
needed on my own.” She sought help from several organizations, and Michael was eventually referred to New Directions. Linda credits Kriya, a NewnDirections Adult Day Services program, with being one of the supports that helped him grow into a more self-reliant, and happy young man.
