About Us
In 1885, a group of concerned women noticed children in need on the streets of Winnipeg. That moment sparked the creation of the Children’s Home of Winnipeg. Since that beginning, New Directions has continued to evolve and adapt to the changing needs of our community. Today, we support over 3,000 individuals across our many programs.
Who We Are
New Directions for Children, Youth, Adults, and Families Inc. is a nonprofit, community-based organization. We provide a wide range of services and supports. These include everything from day programs to 24/7 staffed residential settings for both adults and children. We also offer cultural and educational programs, job training, therapy, and clinical and counselling services.

At the heart of our efforts lies a commitment to responsiveness – to listen, to learn, and to act with compassion and determination.”
David Brand, Board President

Who We Support
We support children, teens, and adults in Winnipeg and Western Manitoba. Individuals may have an intellectual or physical disability. Or they may use American Sign Language to communicate. We encourage each person we support to be as independent as possible. We respect that they can make decisions to the best of their ability. We also advocate that others in the community respect these choices and opinions.
Our Values

Our Mission
To provide responsive and individualized services that foster the hopes and dreams of people and their communities.

“I appreciate the peace of mind knowing that I have help to get to my appointments on time.”
