Resources for Adolescent Parents is a program that offers young women who are pregnant or have children the support they need to keep going to school. Program Objective(s):
To provide pregnant or parenting teens (under 18):
- with an off campus Gordon Bell high school program called “Just Learning”
- with the support they need to remove the barriers that interfere with going to school
Service Philosophy
To provide a smaller classroom, off campus, where pregnant or parenting teens attend school without fear of bullying or discomfort because of being pregnant/parents. To offer assistance in choosing courses that will instill or renew confidence in learning and to provide individual support while working on grades 9-12 mandatory and elective high school credits, to offer counselling services, support during pregnancy, information on nutrition, information on parenting and a variety of speakers. To offer support in preparing to turn eighteen and/or in planning and preparing for future school and employment goals.
