Regional Supported Independent Living

Regional Supported Independent Living (SIL) provides adults with disabilities or mental health barriers the opportunity to live on their own in community.

Supported Independent Living works with the individual and caregivers to create a plan that supports what the person wants to do and accomplish. The team works to build a community of trust and respect so the individual can live on their own in the community. 

Program Features: 

  • adult centered programming that meets goals, therapy and counselling needs
  • one-on-one community-based supports
  • housing, food, clothing, life skills support like cooking, cleaning, shopping, banking and appointments 
  • programming that helps adults meet people, make friends, be active, with access to light meals, laundry and donated items
  • learning job skills and ways to earn a small income
  • family and individual therapy is also available

  • achieve goals that build confidence

Referral process:

  • Fill out referral form
  • Person being referred must be connected to one of the following organizations:
    • Community Living disAbility Services (CLDS)
    • Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA)
    • Child and Family Services (CFS)
    • Provincial Special Needs
    • Family or caregiver of the adult being referred can write a referral on behalf of one of the above agencies
  • New Directions will reach out once the referral is submitted and set up a meeting to go over next steps. 

Note: once an individual is approved for the program, it may take several weeks for funding to come through before the individual can utilize the program services.
