Multidisciplinary Assessment and Consultation Centre (M.A.C.C)

Multidisciplinary Assessment and Consultation Centre (M.A.C.C.) Clinical and cultural services for those unable to use community services due to various barriers.

Now offering appointments in-person, or virtually by video or phone.

M.A.C.C. offers services include Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Social Work and Clinical training. We support New Directions in all areas and work with those who may be unable to use other community services due to various barriers.

Working together with other people who are dealing with the same challenges helps you learn new skills to manage your mental health. You learn from your group leader but also from one another. 

You also learn:

  • How you can encourage others
  • How others can encourage you
  • To relate to yourself and others in a healthier way
  • Learn how to manage and hear others comments

We offer psychological and OT assessments, clinical consultations, therapy (individual, couple, family and group) and clinical training.

HOW DO I ACCESS THIS SERVICE?

Referral Process
Step 1: Fill out and submit referral form

Step 2: Provide supporting information and documentation

  • You will be asked to provide a copy of previous information and report, and sign consent forms where needed. 
  • We provide training for staff, care providers, families , other agencies and individuals
  • Timeframes depend on the topic and audience, and can range from 30 minutes to a full day, or several days
  • Training can be provided in person or virtual. In person locations are located at 717 Portage Ave, or off-site
  • Trainers depend on the topic
  • Established sessions are available but we welcome requests for new sessions

  • Psychological Assessment : $240 per hour
  • Cap of $2,880 for assessment
  • Psychological Therapy : $230 per hour
  • Therapy Groups: $130 per session
  • Late cancellation/ No show fee $100
  • For Psychological and Occupational Therapy assessments, the invoice must be paid in full prior to the delivery of the written report. 
  • Direct billing to insurance is not available (with the exception of NIHB). Individuals will be provided with a receipt to access  reimbursement from their insurance company.
  • $120 per hour
  • Late Cancellation/no show fee is $50
  • Graduate level Student Therapist working under supervision
  • $60 per hour
  • Late cancellation/no show fee $25
  • Assessment/Therapy/Consultation: $120 per hour

Chuck Groening

Chuck Groening is an active member of the Manitoba Association of registered social workers having worked with New Directions for the past 30 years. During this time, he has worked as a clinical case manager and a training coordinator, developing and implementing workshops ranging from topics such as anti homophobia education, case management skills as well as exploring issues such as attachment, autism and person centered strategies.  In addition, he has developed course work for external agencies and has taught in the extended education program at the university of manitoba for the last five years.

Dr. Lindsay Woods

Dr. Sarah Germain

C.Psych.

Dr. Sarah Germain, C.Psych Candidate, offers an integrative therapy experience drawing from Psychodynamic, Attachment, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Client-Centered approaches. Her clinical interests include working with individuals with mood or anxiety concerns, trauma related symptoms, life adjustment, stress management, grief, and anger. Sarah has experience with helping couples who are in conflict, and families with parenting concerns or behavioural concerns in children.

Sarah attained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Manitoba and completed my clinical psychology internship though a consortium of Stony Mountain Institution, Forensic Psychological Services, and the Couples Counselling Project. She is registered as a C.Psych. Candidate with the Psychological Association of Manitoba. At MACC, Sarah provides therapy and assessment services for children, adolescents and adults under the supervision of Dr. Lindsay Woods.
