Recognizing Direct Support Professionals Week

The Province of Manitoba has officially declared this the Direct Support Professional Recognition Week for all the Direct Support Professionals that work with adults with disabilities in the province. New Directions is grateful for all the dedication and commitment of the Direct Support Workers and Community Resource Workers who make a difference in the lives of the individuals supported throughout our Adult Services programs.

The work you do every day provides something deeper than instrumental supports; it creates opportunities for the individuals you work with to experience connection, belonging and to discover their strengths. Your care and support also allow people to manage disappointments or hardships as they continue moving towards their goals. You make a lasting difference. We are thankful for your work every day and want to make sure we acknowledge it especially during this week of shared recognition.

We also want to acknowledge the hard work of the Alliance of Direct Support Professionals of Manitoba (ADSPM, https://adspm.ca/) who continuously advocates for and promotes the important work done within this sector.

Sincerely,

Dr. Alicia Ordóñez, C.Psych.
