More Help, More Hope: Our FASD Team is Growing to Support Even More Youth

Supporting youth with FASD just got a little bit easier, and a lot more exciting, for our FASD Family Support, Education, and Counselling Program. Thanks to additional funding from the Manitoba government; FASD Strategy, we’re now able to support youth up to age 18, expanding our previous range from 14. This change will give more families and teens with FASD the chance to access the services and steady support they need during what can be some of the most challenging years of their lives.

Even better, the added funding allowed us to welcome two new youth counsellors to the team. With this addition, the program now benefits from the energy and skills of three dedicated youth counsellors: Devra, Kalee, and Meyling. Each brings their own unique strengths and perspectives to the work, and together they form a strong, caring network for the young people and families we serve.

Whether it’s helping youth navigate life challenges while working toward their goals, or collaborating with parents to improve access to needed resources, this team is all about meeting young people and families where they’re at.

Overall, this expansion marks an exciting step forward for New Directions, for families, and for the youth in our community. It means more young people will have access to individualized support, and more opportunities will open up for those who need them most. It’s a change we’re truly thrilled about, and one that reflects our ongoing commitment to helping youth thrive.
