New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster people’s hopes and dreams in their communities. Adult Day Services is one of the many services offered by New Directions providing supports to individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health issues in six distinct day program locations. We are seeking a full time Job Developer to join our Employment program.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:  Developing and continuously modifying employment preparation curriculum to meet the needs and interest of the participants; Develop positive, working relationships with participants, Prepare and deliver employment preparation material in classroom, help train employment job skills using a variety of teaching methods to accommodate all learning styles; responsible for implementing an employer and business recruitment strategy and offer direct liaison services; Maintain close liaison with participant and employer: regular work site check in or phone check in; Ensures that all relevant documentation for every work placement is completed accurately and updated monthly; Computer proficient in technological advances related to employment.

Qualifications Include:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities, mental health concerns and pervasive developmental disorders
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and show initiative
  • Knowledge of, and/or ability to communicate using American Sign Language (A.S.L.) would be an asset
  • Administrative and word processing skills
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills
  • Current First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certifications
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
  • Person for this position must be flexible for shifts as they may need to work evenings and weekends occasionally.

The salary is 40-hours per week that ranges from $15.66 per hour to $21.92 (equivalent to $32,572.80 to $45,593.60 (per annum), dependent upon education and/or experience. A full benefits package is also provided.

The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record and Adult/Child Abuse Registry Checks. A recent Driver’s Abstract must be provided.
