SHIFT STAFFED HOMES

New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster the hopes and dreams of people and their communities. 

We are currently seeking a part-time Direct Support Worker to join the Shift Staffed Homes team. Shift Staffed Homes is one of the many services within Adult Services at New Directions; providing person-centered support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities who may experience complex health issues. The Shift Staffed Homes strive to promote a sense of belonging and provide opportunities to engage in a meaningful life. This is achieved by creating a home environment that welcomes the participation of adults, supporting their pursuits, interests, goals, and helping maintain and strengthen the bond between the adults and their significant others.  We provide an environment that is non-judgmental, safe and caring.   

The schedule for this position is: Saturday & Sunday varying shifts 

Duties include: 

  • Working as part of a team providing care, support and guidance to individuals in their homes and in the community, 
  • Administering medication, 
  • Providing transportation, and 
  • Performing household chores.  

Applicants may have experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Grade 12 Diploma (or equivalent) and a valid Driver’s License are required. First Aid/CPR, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training (NCI) certification and American Sign Language (ASL) are considered assets. 

The salary range for this 16 hour bi-weekly, part-time position is $15.89 to $22.25 per hour (equivalent to $13,220 to $18,512 per annum), dependent upon education and/or experience.  

The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record, Child/Adult Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact checks; and must supply a current driver’s abstract.
