New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster people’s hopes and dreams in their communities.

Training Resources for Youth (TRY) is one of the many service areas within Culture, Education and Training at New Directions.  This service area serves 16 – 29 year old individuals who may have experienced a variety of barriers to school and employment success.   Training Resources for Youth (TRY) is currently seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, possess strong organizational, interpersonal, time management, customer service and communication skills. They will be self-directed/motivated, team-oriented, and can collaborate with a variety of people in a fast-paced work environment.


Responsibilities Include but not are not limited to:

  • Administrative support to the TRY team
  • Developing and maintaining spreadsheets and Word documents
  • Scheduling meetings
  • Maintaining calendars
  • Creating, maintaining and discharging files
  • Taking and transcribing meeting minutes
  • Reception duties as well as duty relief for the agency
  • Credit card/bank card/petty cash reconciliation
  • Typing correspondence, reports and statistics


The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrate experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Demonstrate a minimum typing speed of 60 w.p.m.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience providing general office administrative support
  • Have exceptional organizational skills and be detailed-oriented
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills

The salary range for this full-time position is $14.08 – 19.71 per hour (equivalent to $25,625 – $35,872 per annum) dependent upon education and/or experience. A full benefits package (which include Health and Dental Benefits, Long Term Disability Benefits, and a Pension Plan) is provided to regular full-time staff.


The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry, Prior Contact, and Adult Abuse Registry Checks.
