New Directions Endowment Fund
This is a permanent endowment fund established by New Directions. Gifts to this fund are pooled and invested to benefit New Directions in perpetuity. The interest from the endowment fund enables us to help those whose needs may go beyond traditional services and programs. For every $9 donated to the fund, The Winnipeg Foundation donates $1.
New Directions
Basic Needs Fund
This is a new fund established by New Directions in 2023. Like the Endowment Fund, it offers funding for activities and supports that are most often out of reach for the individuals we serve. For example, dental work, mobility aids, a bus trip home during the holidays, Indigenous teachings camps, and household items.

Donate to the Opikihiwawin Endowment Fund
You can donate directly to the Opikihiwawin Endowment Fund. Opikihiwawin means “coming home.” The program offers Indigenous adoptees and children in foster care the opportunity to connect with their culture and their biological families. Gifts to this fund are invested in perpetuity and the annual income generated is distributed to the Opikihiwawin program.

A Gift of Securities
You can donate through appreciated securities, including stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. The capital gains tax is eliminated and you will also receive a tax receipt for the market value. It will be based on the closing price on the day the shares were transferred to New Directions’ account at our custodial agent. Gifting securities is the most tax-efficient way to give.

Legacy Giving & Tribute Gifts
