Adult Day Services

Adult Day Services are a set of services that work to improve the quality of life of people who are living with disabilities and/or mental health issues. At New Directions we have 6 different programs that offer a balance between work experience opportunities, recreational activities, and educational programming at 4 different locations in Winnipeg from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All programs use a person-centered approach meaning we take the time to build relationships with people and follow their direction in reaching their goals and interests, making them central to the supports they receive.

Each of our program locations offer up to date amenities; gym/exercise rooms, large classrooms featuring advanced technology (Smartboards and iPads), lounge areas with comfortable seating, multi-sensory rooms (small spaces with minimal lighting), and large kitchen spaces for cooking classes and meal prepping. All locations have wide open spaces and are completely accessible.

Referrals are forwarded to Program Coordinators who make arrangements for a meeting/tour of the Program, and then for interested persons, a two-week trial period.

After the trial period, if an individual is interested in attending the Program full-time, the Coordinator will forward a Funding Proposal to the funding agency.  Upon approval of funding, an intake meeting will be scheduled to pass-on all relevant information and an official start date for Program attendance will be scheduled.

Referrals to Adult Day Services come from: CLDS, WRHA, School Divisions, other family service agencies, families/support networks.
