73 Smiles, Lifelong Memories
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, our Shift Staffed Homes (SSH) program has been receiving support from the Basic Needs Fund for over a year. SSH offers adults with developmental disabilities a safe and secure fully staffed home. It also offers social, emotional, and mental health support that helps each person live a full and meaningful life.
This summer, the Basic Needs Fund made something special possible: a fishing trip to Otter Falls, MB. Residents tried their luck at fishing off the dock, while the smell of BBQ drifted through the air. The fish weren’t biting much that day, but spirits were high as friends from different homes came together to laugh, share stories, and enjoy a meal.
“We had an amazing turnout,” said SSH Coordinator Jesse Pullman. For many, it was a rare chance to spend a day in nature surrounded by friends.
Looking ahead, excitement is already building for the next adventures, an outing to A Maze in Corn for a BBQ and games night in October, followed by the much-loved SSH Christmas Party in December at St. Boniface Cathedral.
We are so grateful to our donors for making this outing a reality. It gave 73 residents a joyful day filled with smiles, friendship and cherished memories.
