The Supported Apartment Living Program (S.A.L.) supports people who have intellectual disabilities and/or mental health barriers who are choosing to live independently in the community. Program Features The program provides individualized community based supports;

  • Clinical Case Management services which focus on meeting individual specific needs and goals.
  • One-to-One Community based supports that provide for basic needs including housing, food and clothing as well as life skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, banking and medical appointment support.
  • Social Development and Skill Building through participation in our resource lounge, community inclusion and skill development activities.

 

Program Service Principles

Services are provided based on a strengths approach which increases competencies.

Relationships based on trust, respect and empowerment are developed between the participant and the support team.

Services focus on encouraging people to live as autonomous members of their community.

Self-determination and dignity of risk are respected and honoured.

Service participation is voluntary.

Services are centralized in the participant’s community and are easily accessible.

Individual need defines the scope of the resources provided to participants.

Program Facilities

S.A.L. main offices and resource lounge are located at 514 St. Mary Avenue. The resource lounge includes a kitchen, TV/game room, harvest room, internet station, job search and apartment resource area, and lounge area. We also offer free laundry services and access to community donation resources.

Program Structure

Our team consists of a dedicated group of social service providers whose responsibilities include Program Management and Administrative Support, Resource Coordination, Clinical Case Management, and Community Support Work.
